Oil is not given very high priority when considering food items for long-term storage, yet it is a very strategically important part of our food chain.  Most oils go bad or rancid in two years or three at the most, furthering the possibility of a shortage developing in this food group.  This makes for a perfect asset if you are able to find and store cooking oils that last many years.  We have found two so far that do.  So we are offering the following…

Avocado Oil

Avacado Oil

Avocado oil is typically used as an ingredient in other dishes and as a cooking oil. It has an unusually high smoke point and it is high in monounsaturated fats and vitamin E.  As a culinary oil, avocado oil compares well with olive oil.  Like olive oil, avocado oil is one of few edible oils not derived from seeds; it is pressed from the fleshy pulp surrounding the avocado pit. We sell unrefined, cold pressed oil with a long storage life. The oil, because of its nutritional benefits, is an excellent contributor to a healthy and balanced diet.  It is of particular benefit in diets which help to prevent coronary heart disease, diabetes, and possibly prostrate problems.

Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is an edible oil extracted from the meat of matured coconuts harvested from the coconut palm.  Throughout the tropical world, it has provided the primary source of fat in the diets of millions of people for generations. It has various applications in food, medicine, and industry. Coconut oil is very heat-stable, which makes it suited to methods of cooking at high temperatures like frying. Because of its stability, it is slow to oxidize and, thus, resistant to rancidity, lasting years due to high saturated fat content. Coconut oil is known for maintaining cholesterol levels, weight loss, increased immunity, proper digestion and metabolism, relief from kidney problems, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes, HIV and cancer, dental care, and bone strength. These benefits of coconut oil can be attributed to the presence of Lauric acid, Capric acid and Caprylic acid.
